HONDA INSIGHT HATCHBACK Review
Review vehicle: Honda Insight 1.3 IMA ES 5dr

In simplest terms a rival to the Toyota Prius but also one of the most important Hondas ever built. The Insight is a proper family-sized hybrid that can do 60mpg and emit just 105g/km of CO2. Cheap too prices start at under 15,500.

What's hot

• Those headline-grabbing fuel and emission figures...
• ...don't forget it's road tax and C-charge exempt too
• Drives much better than a Prius with precise steering...
• ...taut body control and agile handling
• Little 88bhp 1.3-litre engine is amazingly quiet and refined
• No hot hatch but there's enough performance on offer...
• ...even on the motorway
• Neat dashboard glows green if you drive economically
• SE entry Insight has CO2 of just 101g/km and 64mpg
• Entry-level model is also well priced

What's not

• The fact that it looks like a Prius from some angles
• Scratchy cabin plastics below eye level, especially around the handbrake
• Not much space in the back for tall adults
